EPI Nutrition Guide
Good nutrition is essential for everyone, but it’s even more important if you’re living with a condition that affects your gastrointestinal (GI) system, like exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), as EPI may compromise your ability to properly absorb nutrients.
This EPI nutrition guide was developed for people who have EPI due to chronic pancreatitis, pancreatectomy, or other conditions. Within the guide, you will find nutrition tips and easy-to-prepare recipes to help improve your nutritional intake when combined with an overall treatment plan prescribed by your doctor. The recipes are delicious, too!
It is important to note that this guide was not designed for those with EPI due to cystic fibrosis, as they may have very different and specific nutritional needs. Please keep in mind that there are no “one size fits all” nutrition guidelines for EPI, as specific needs may vary based on your symptoms and other health conditions. Being conscious of your nutrition is just one part of managing EPI, so it is critical to actively work with your healthcare team to find the best overall management plan for you.
