OPENING UP TO YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT EPI
RHONDA: When I started first talking to my doctor, I was so embarrassed and it was just, you know, who wants to tell him that stuff? “Yeah, Doc, I have nasty gas.” You know? It’s gross.
MEREDITH: It can be a little uncomfortable at first talking to a gastroenterologist about all the symptoms that come with EPI. Nobody really likes to talk about diarrhea or gas or gastrointestinal bloating.
RHONDA: But after a while, you know, I got comfortable. My doctor and I have a really good relationship. And so, you know, it’s no big deal.
MEREDITH: I have found that gastroenterologists are very understanding, and mine has been very easy to talk to.
JOHN: I told them everything right from the stool movements, how they looked, the composition.
ANDY: You’ve got to make it easy for him. And you just can’t go in and throw yourself at his mercy.
RHONDA: However disgusting you think it is, and however nasty you think it is, you have to tell your doctor everything in detail.
DEBRA: You have to be able to tell them everything, no matter how embarrassing or how silly or how insignificant you think it is.
JOHN: Talk to your doctor.
MEREDITH: Talk to your doctor.
MEL: Talk to your doctor about your symptoms.
